“Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” - Luke 2:14 NKJV
Finding peace on earth can seem to be an impossibility. With all the challenges we face, peace can seem like a dream. In light of this, some would suggest that we can only really have true peace someday in the sweet by and by when we leave this earthly existence and go to be with Jesus. While being free from this body of sin and knowing as we are known is going to be such a wonderful experience, at the same time we need to know that we don’t have to wait for peace until we die. We can have peace here and now. The reason we can have peace is that we have Jesus.
It sounds so simplistic, like the traditional Sunday School answer, but it is so true. Jesus is our peace! He came to bring peace. That is why the angel who announced His birth to the shepherds said that on earth there was peace. Jesus, the Prince of Peace, came to the earth and His very presence brings with it His peace. Remember that God said He would never leave you nor forsake you. Jesus said He would be with us always. The Holy Spirit lives inside of us and goes wherever we go. That means that you have the Prince of Peace with you everywhere in everything! Wow! How different would your life be if you were aware of God’s presence with you at all times? Would you have a better attitude at work? Would you worry less when you hear the news? Would your family relationships be stronger and more loving?
Purpose in your heart today to bring Jesus into every part of your life by remembering His presence throughout the day. When you start your day acknowledge Him in prayer. When you read your Bible, ask Him to teach you about it. When you work, ask for the strength and mental ability to do the best job you can. When you’re spending time with your family and friends, ask Him to be in the midst of your conversations and activities. God loves to spend time with His children. You will notice that the more aware you are of His presence the more of His peace you will experience. Merry Christmas Rock Family! May the peace of God be with you in all of your celebrations and gatherings this Christmas season.
