We started out this year looking at some principles for fasting—to help discipline our bodies and “tune up” spiritually… Back to Thursdays at Women Rock a.m., Pastor Jess has been teaching a wonderful series, The Journey of Faith for the past two weeks. Sandi Simonson does a great job each week of giving us an outline of the points and scriptures which you can find on the Women Rock Facebook page. And of course, we encourage you to download the Rock app to listen to the messages each week or listen online. So some additional insights on this journey of faith…
He is with you every step
We truly are on a journey with our precious Lord Jesus holding our hand every step of the way. One time He spoke to me and said, “I’m your personal Lord and Savior…” He knows us intimately, very personally—every thought, every fear, every secret desire, every wrong attitude—and we are so uniquely made in His image. He loves us completely, unconditionally, thoroughly—He is only love and He loves us with everything that He is. So we can completely trust Him, abandon ourselves to His loving leadership in our lives. The journey that I am on with Him, does not look like your journey. Oh, yes, some things will appear the same—the fruit His work produces—the fruit of the Spirit will similarly come forth in each of our lives. But the way I express joy may not be the way you do. I may be an excited chatterbox, so ready to declare all He’s been doing and you may have that quiet joyous laugh with every word you speak, almost like you’ve got a tremendous secret you can’t wait to tell. But the journey it takes to get there for you and me may be completely different. I’ve always been a “slow learner”; didn’t get married until I was 32, my last child at nearly 40. Seems like I always have to learn things the hard way too—such a stubborn will! But God has been so patient with me and keeps assuring me that He still has hold of my hand and is involved in all these “hard” lessons I’m learning…
It all comes out of faith
Do you trust Him, wholly, completely? Abraham did, to the extent that he could even go to the point of raising his arm to take his only promised son’s life, trusting that God was faithful and would raise him from the dead if need be. Wow; that blows me away; I’m still growing into that kind of faith. I love Pastor Jess’ first point in her first message in this Journey of Faith series—that we must remind ourselves that He is faithful. If He is faithful (which He is), then His Word is true, and what He promises to do in our lives, He will do. So we can trust Him completely, totally, without reservation. Look back on your life, remind yourself of all the times He’s been faithful, in His infinite mercy. Look at all those He was faithful to in the Bible: Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jacob, Esther, Daniel, Peter, Paul… He is the same yesterday, today, forever. Even if on your journey, you’re tempted to not see His faithfulness at this point in time, continue to believe His promises, continue to look to Him, He’s not done yet and even if it does seem like you’re suffering, remember:
After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace who imparts His blessing and favor, who called you to His own eternal glory in Christ, will Himself complete, confirm, strengthen, and establish you making you what you ought to be. – 1 Peter 5:10 (AMP)
