“Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not worthy. Go therefore to the main roads and invite to the wedding feast as many as you find.’ And those servants went out into the roads and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good. So the wedding hall was filled with guests.” — Matthew 22:8-10 ESV
Easter is almost here! Like literally this weekend!
Here are 3 easy ways to invite someone, last minute to an Easter service.
Because, let’s be honest, most people have not completely planned their weekend anyways.
So where do you start? Well…
One on one. Like a real conversation.
People still have those??
Yes, and they work wonders! Assuming you’ll be having contact with humans in the next 48 hours then this applies to you. It’s easy here’s some scenarios…
SCENARIO ONE: Level Easy
You: So what are your plans this weekend for Easter?
Them: Oh not much.
You: Well, hey you should come to church with me! I’ll be at the (fill in blank wth your service.) I’ll save you seat!
SCENARIO TWO: Level Moderate
You: So what are your plans this weekend?
Them: I’m soooo busy!
You: Oh wow, I know the feeling, that’s why I’m going to church Saturday at 10:00am instead of Sunday because I’ll be with family. Want to come with?
Them: Oh I wish I could but we have soccer that day.
You: I got you, we have a Good Friday Communion at 7:00pm!! I’ll meet you in front so you know where to take your kids to Children’s Ministry.
SCENARIO THREE: Level Expert
You: So what are your plans this weekend for Easter?
Them: I don’t celebrate Easter or believe in God.
You: Why not?
Them: (at this point seriously listen to this person, they are hurting, something has happened in life to turn them from God, or maybe they’ve never been told the story of Jesus.)
You: Wow, I hear where you’re coming from. Why not give God one more try, I’ll be there with you. I’d love to grab a coffee at our church before service and we can chat, it’s on me!
Alternate ending: Wow I hear where you’re coming from. We are watching The Passion of the Christ on Friday at 5:00pm, sometimes it’s easier to watch a story on the screens, it makes more sense, to get the full picture of how much God loves you. Then let’s grab froyo and chat about it after.
WHAT TO KEEP IN MIND WHEN INVITING SOMEONE…
Be happy and bold. Not weird and forceful. Just have confidence!
Overcome their objections.
No time? We have a ton of services!
No ride? We got buses.
No friends? I’ll sit with you.
No wifi? We got wifi at church!
Bounce back if they decline. It’s not the end of the world. If it gets into a heated debate about theology (which is usually our fear) then diffuse with love and do your best. You don’t have to know Genesis to Revelation to invite someone to church.
Be hospitable. You’re not a robot just passing out flyers and sharing things on social media like maniac! You’re their friend, someone they know. So act like it. Meet them in the foyer, get them a visitor bag, show them the children’s ministry and save them a seat.
What can you do right now?

Screenshot the graphic below and text it to your friends. Super easy. Send the website and make it easy for them.
Social Media.
Let the light shine on the dark and dreary lands of Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat. Share the event, videos, graphics. People will recognize the billboards and maybe others have shared it too.
