6 Ways to Build Your Faith When Hope Seems Small

6 Ways to Build Your Faith When Hope Seems Small

Sue Bryan

Way #1

Remind yourself of God’s faithfulness. Listen to the song, “The Steadfast Love of the Lord” by TheIslandSing, then take a listen to Pastor Jess exhorting on this subject – do you want faith like a kite, up and down with every wind of attack or brick-like faith that stands strong through the storm? Re-listen to week #1.

Way #2

Ask for prayers that scare you! We serve a BIG GOD!! Don’t be content skiing down the bunny hill slopes of life when there’s the diamond run to experience! Find what you’re believing for in God’s Word, believe it, then pray it! He wants you to have “exceedingly, abundantly above” what you could ever hope, ask, or think!! (Ephesians 3:20) More insights from Pastor Jessica Roth in week #2.

Way #3

Take action in faith. James 1:26 says that faith without works (corresponding actions) is dead (of no use)! If you really believe you’ve received what God has promised you, then act like it! How would you act if you really had in hand what you’ve asked Him for? More on this subject from Pastor Jessica Roth in week #3.

Way #4

Be patient. You don’t need more faith, you just need to develop it! Patiently waiting for the answered prayer develops your “faith muscle”. Abraham didn’t have Isaac until he was too old to have Isaac. God has a perfect timing in our lives. Listen to more of this amazing message from Pastor Deborah Cobrae in week #4.

Way #5

Watch out for symptoms that you’ve been infected with a “faith buster” disease: Disinterest in the things of God, Discouragement that it seems like your prayers aren’t being answered, and Distancing yourself from God and fellow Christians. Cast down doubts: “Faith can move mountains but doubt can create them!” More on this deadly faith-robbing disease and how you can be inoculated against it by Dr. Vanessa Reynolds in week #5.

Way #6

Don’t dwell on the hopelessness of your situation, but rather meditate on the promise God has given you from His Word. God is “not a man that He can lie!” (Numbers 23:19). Abraham was “not weak in faith, he did not consider his own body…he did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform!” (Romans 4:17-24) Hear more along these lines from Pastor Sue Bryan in week #6.
